Why We Need to Formalize a Practically-Oriented Sub-Discipline of AI Ethics

Dr. Jonathan Boardman

Dr. Jonathan Boardman received his PhD in Analytics and Data Science from Kennesaw State University and is now working as a Data Scientist at Equifax. His research has focused on developing value-aligned AI, ethical risk assessment technologies, and fair and explainable deep learning. In ACM SIGITE2023, Dr. Boardman will talk about some of what he sees as the limitations in our current approaches to operationalizing AI ethics and why he believes we need to formalize a discipline wholly devoted to this task.
